EMPLOYEE BENEFITS AND TIME OFF
Benefits are for full-time employees that are in good standing (please see Employment Classifications for further details regarding what is considered in good standing).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE
We provide workers compensation insurance, in accordance with the State laws, for any employee who is injured on the premises, or, while conducting business for Computer Pros On Call. All injuries must be reported immediately so the proper claims can be filed. Any hospital visit due to a work-related injury, where workers compensation is filed, will also include a mandatory drug test.
We contribute to the State Unemployment Compensation Insurance fund for all of our employees. This provides emergency income during periods of unemployment for qualified individuals. In compliance with State and Federal Unemployment Compensation laws, we contribute to all appropriate State and Federal programs.
After six (6) full pay periods of full-time employment, with full-time being defined as no less than 40 hours per week; Computer Pros On Call agrees to reimburse employees 50% of their medical insurance premium up to the amount of $275.00/month. Employees must present a copy of their medical insurance bill in their name (no spouse or children included) by the 15th of every month (or when the policy is in place) for record keeping. If you are on your spouse’s medical policy, you may be reimbursed as well, providing you submit a statement that clearly defines how much your portion of the monthly premium is apart from your spouse/family. The reimbursement will be dispersed in one payment in the last pay period of each month, providing you have submitted the proper paperwork as stated above. If the insurance policy begins on a date other than the first of the month, a pro-rated amount will be given. Dental and vision benefits are excluded.
Computer Pros On Call offers a 401k Plan as a benefit for those full-time employees that have successfully completed their training and introductory period. Enrollment for new employees takes place on the first payroll in January or July, whichever is sooner. Once the employee is setup in the plan, the company will contribute the equivalent of 3% of the employees pay each pay period to the employee’s 401k account, whether the employee contributes to the plan or not.
Full-time employees, in good standing, will be eligible for the following paid holidays after six (6) full pay periods of full-time employment:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Thanksgiving Friday
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
When a holiday falls on a non-workday (Saturday or Sunday), an additional vacation day - or floater day - will be given in each event, as per management’s discretion.
Employees will be paid eight (8) hours per holiday.
Paid holidays, PTO and Sick Time do not count toward determining overtime pay.
PAID VACATION AND PTO
Computer Pros On Call recognizes the need for employees to have a flexible system for the use of PTO for scheduled time not worked, such as vacation, sick days, and appointments.
After six (6) full pay periods of full-time employment, all full-time employees in good standing are eligible for PTO accrual and usage unless otherwise excluded by employment status or agreement.
Three (3) sick days will be available as of January 1st for existing employees (or accrual basis after six (6) full pay periods of full-time employment ). These are available to be used throughout the entire calendar year as noted below under “Use of Sick Days” section. Employees will also be eligible to earn up to ten (10) days of vacation through accrual. There are eight (8) recognized holidays as well for existing full-time employees. The breakdown is as follows:
THIS SHALL BE EQUIVALENT TO: 2 WEEKS OF VACATION PER YEAR 10 DAYS
3 SICK DAYS PER YEAR 3 DAYS
8 HOLIDAYS 8 DAYS
TOTAL 21 DAYS
Employees accrue PTO time every pay period. New employees are eligible for accrual
after six (6) full pay periods of full-time employment. Accrual rate is 3.08 hours per pay period throughout the entire year.
USE OF PTO
Time off approval is at the discretion of the supervisor and will be approved on a “first come, first served” basis. PTO must be scheduled as far in advance as possible.
PTO may be borrowed against future-earned PTO days to accommodate vacations; five (5) days are available starting January 1st and five (5) additional days are available starting July 1st. In the event of employment separation, borrowed days will be taken out of the last paycheck.
PTO will be paid at the employee’s base rate at the time the PTO is taken. Differentials and/or other pay are excluded from PTO pay.
- Accrued Vacation Days must be paid in four (4) or eight (8) hour increments.
- Sick Days will be paid based on the number of hours worked:
o Less than three (3) hours worked will result in a full sick day being paid (8 hour increments), for example, if you work from 8:30am to 11:00am, which is 2 ½ hours, you will be paid for the 2 ½ hours worked plus 8 hours for a full Sick Day.
o Three (3) or more hours worked in a day will result in a half sick day being paid (4 hour increments). For example, if you work from 8:30am to 12:00pm, which is 3 ½ hours, you will be paid for the 3 ½ hours worked plus 4 hours for a half Sick Day.
o Six (6) or more hours work in a day will result in being paid only for the hours worked, no sick time will apply.
USE OF SICK DAYS
Three (3) sick days will be available as of January 1st for existing employees. These days may be used for illness, bereavement, family appointments, or jury duty. New employees will receive one (1) sick day after six (6) full pay periods of full-time employment and then will accrue one (1) additional sick day for every eight (8) full pay periods of full-time employment. There will be no accrual of sick days once you’ve reached your total for the year of three (3) days.
PAYOUT WHEN EMPLOYMENT ENDS
Employees, who have successfully completed their Training and Introductory Period, may have an unused balance of PTO (not including sick days) paid out upon termination or resignation, providing appropriate notice is given and worked. Payout is in the pay period following the last day worked.
Up to three (3) PTO days may be carried over to the next calendar year if not used during the current calendar year. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis only.
UNPAID TIME OFF
Employees have the ability to request up to five (5) non-sequential days off per calendar year as unpaid time. Time off approval is at the discretion of the supervisor and will be approved on a “first come, first served” basis. Unpaid time off must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance to be considered in good standing and must be used in daily increments (8 hours per day).
Every field engineer is supplied with a company laptop. The care of the laptop is the responsibility of the assigned engineer. Upon separation from the company, the laptop must be returned to the company in the same condition it was issued. (See Employee Agreement).
The same policies regarding in-office usage of internet, backgrounds, or screensavers, also apply to company assigned laptops.
